Sanctuary of Our Lady of Consolation, Pasierbiec

A diocesan Marian sanctuary established in 2003, with roots going back to 1793 when soldier Jan Matras from nearby Laskowa miraculously survived the Battle of Rastatt and vowed to build a chapel in Mary's honour. The first chapel was erected in 1822; the current church — designed in the shape of the letter 'M' (for Mary) — was consecrated in 1983. Inside: a miraculous image of Our Lady, narrative stained-glass windows and votive offerings. Around the church: the Stations of the Cross and Marian Paths with panoramic views of Beskid Wyspowy and the Tatras.

🚗 Getting to Rupniów

  • By car: National road DK28 (Kraków–Nowy Sącz), exit at Limanowa, then local roads towards Rupniów. From Kraków approx. 80 km (about 1.5 hrs).
  • By bus: PKS and private coach connections from Limanowa to Rupniów. Timetables available at the Gmina Limanowa office.
  • By train: Limanowa has no active railway station. The nearest operating stations are Nowy Sącz or Kraków, from where you can continue by bus or taxi.
